Delicious Spicy Mustard Butter

The Recipe:

  1. Beat 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted softened butter until creamy
  2. Blend in 1 1/2 tablespoons Spicy Mustard Medium and 4 sprigs fresh parsley, chopped
  3. Scoop a dollop on your steak or burger to add a savory spice to your supper!

The Backstory:

Sometimes there’s no substitute for butter! This is a really simple way to add a little butter to your dish while giving it a low calorie, healthy, and flavorful kick. The mustard mixed with the butter actually took me by surprise. Let’s just say I wasn’t in love with the idea when I first heard it. Once I tried it I will forever hear Homer Simpson’s voice in my head saying… mmmmmmm Forbidden Mustard Butter…

We’ve tried this on rib eye, hanger steak, and of course filet mignon and it’s been a staple in our house ever since. This little dollop of mustard could be used on a burger with a side of fries for lazy Sunday afternoons or even on a roasted chicken!

A cautionary culinary tale… I thought this would be great to crisp up the skin of a roasted chicken before taking it off the grill. I had a spatchcocked chicken on the grill and right before pulling it off rubbed the mustard butter on and flipped it over forgetting to turn the heat down… Doh! Extra crispy

If you’re planning on grilling with this mustard butter keep an eye on the flame!
